Sliding through just in time - this week has some excellent shows to check out. Acid house to techno to deep house, there's a little something for everyone.
Hot off a tour that’s included stops at Berghain and De School, Tin Man brings his live show to Housepitality. His shows include live use of 303s, 707s, a laptop, and much more which is sure to please any gearhead and fan of acid house/techno. As usual, Housepitality provides a quality environment, free entry & champagne before 10pm ($10 after).
If you’re looking to dance, Traviswild is always a solid bet. This is his monthly party at Hawthorn, and the theme is a costumes-encouraged “under the sea”. Upcoming San Francisco-based producer & DJ ZEHV will be making his club debut on opening honors.
Back at F8 on Friday? Don’t mind if we do. On this Friday, Cosmin TRG is hosted by Direct to Earth. The Romanian-born but Berlin-based Cosmin brings a deft minimalism to high intensity techno. Fans of A Made Up Sound, Blawan, or Pearson Sound would do well to check this show out. Max Gardner, DJ CZ, and Woozy (Werd.) will be opening things up.
Oasis is an underrated gem in a several-block radius of more typical club experiences. Most weekends they’re host to themed drag nights. On this particular Friday, noted mostly-disco selector Lovefingers is at the helm.
Vinyl Dreams’ associated women’s collective is hosting another event at the cozy shop. This time it includes sharing some of the collective’s favorite records along with DJs. The event is a welcoming and warm environment to meet other enthusiasts with quality sound and listening stations.
South African producer Nora en Pure delivers her signature deep house to the Funktion-1s at Audio this weekend. Her sample-heavy and melodic tunes have allowed her a steady rise, including a well-timed BBC Essential Mix last summer. She’s also done a number of remixes names like Rufus du Sol, Kligande, and Adrian Lux.
Dark Entries bossman Josh Cheon joins forces with Kerri LeBon, C.L.A.W.S., and Tyrel for the second Fleurs du Mal. Expect some more left field and ambient techno-tinged offerings.
