Permission to Land & Noctuary @ the Midway - 5/20
For our 6th installment, we've partnered with the Midway to bring you our first event with our new name, and first day-into-night affair. The Midway's patio has the good fortune to be in the Dogpatch - one of the sunniest corners of the city and one of the very few outdoor spaces with a seriously proper soundsystem. The patio has hosted many of our favorite parties over the last year, features a bar and food from Madam Zola's cafe. The event begins at 2pm, and features three guest artists - Shanti Celeste (Bristol), Russell E.L. Butler (Oakland), Jordee (SF) and our resident, Kudeki - making for a very stacked evening indeed.
Of course, as is usual for our parties, we have a welcoming, friendly atmosphere and a zero-tolerance policy for harassment or misogyny of any kind. Please ask any door staff or staff members or text our hotline (see signs posted in around the venue) if you need any assistance.
Bristol-based Shanti Celeste is a label owner, producer, and skilled DJ - a triple threat we're thrilled to have on the decks for our 6th iteration. She has two electrifying Boiler Rooms to her name, an NTS Residency, and her fledging label Peach Discs serves as a platform for upcoming talent like Ciel, Chekov, and Fred along with some of her own releases. Expect choice cuts of house, techno, disco, and electro with perfect daytime-into-night atmosphere.
Russell E.L. Butler
Russell Butler is a lauded producer, live performer, and DJ hailing from Bermuda, based in Oakland. Aside from their modular-driven stripped-down techno, they bring diverse, evolved selections through their DJ sets. Russell seeks to bridge these with their connection with the black and queer diaspora. Their releases on Jacktone, CGI, and Black Opal have seen much success, and their upcoming release on Left Hand Path is looking to do the same.
Jordee is a favorite rising star based in San Francisco. The ambitiously successful co-founder of weekly techno mainstay Kosmetik and the 'epic-lineup-that-gives-back' of Mixed Forms, Jordee is a force of nature. Their commitment to an always-tasteful selection and community-driven events is special indeed. Jordee has shared the stage with artists like Eris Drew, Honey Soundsystem, Chris Cruse, and Octo Octa to name just a few.
Last but most certainly not least our resident Kudeki will fill out the rest of this lineup. An always-on, always prepared DJ with a predilection to melodic techno, acid, and electro. She's shared the stage with artists like A Guy Called Gerald, Noncompliant, Bas Mooy, and Lauren Flax to name a few. she's anticipating her first release in 2018 with Perfect Location Records.
