Who is this for?
We center anyone who identifies as a woman or nonbinary person in our promotion, coverage, and bookings. We explicitly provide space for self-determination of gender expression (she/her, they/them, genderqueer, genderfluid, cisgender, trans*, nonconforming...) in our corner of dance music. Virtually every other outlet is designed for the straight cisgender dude to get seen, booked, and promoted, and we're committed to doing something a little different. We are ever-growing and ever-learning.
I’m a dude, can I play your party? can I make a mix for your podcast?
No. You can attend our parties, IF you promise to behave yourself. Otherwise, kick rocks.
Do you have merch?
Yes! Our current charity beneficiary of choice is the Transgender Law Center,* with 50% of the profit from every sale going to them. The other 50% goes to supporting the hosting costs of the website, database, and mix series. You can buy a t-shirt, tank top, or hoodie here. We're working on a few other non-logo options to be released in Summer of 2018.
*"Transgender Law Center (TLC) is the largest national trans-led organization advocating self-determination for all people. Grounded in legal expertise and committed to racial justice, TLC employs a variety of community-driven strategies to keep transgender and gender nonconforming people alive, thriving, and fighting for liberation."
What are your parties like?
Well, this is a bit of a moving target. but we would characterize our party as being a kind, mixed group of friendly weirdos that love to get down and respect the culture of the dancefloor (pro-affirmative consent, no flash, no zombies on their phones, no requests, no set times). The music is usually some variety of house or techno and it’s always good. You can check out some aftermovies of our parties here to get a sense of our vibe. Our ideal crowd shows up early, stays late and looks out for each other. We're well-acquainted ravers with exacting standards of crowd, vibe, sound, and music. We're committed to building this type of culture at our parties. We have a hotline posted at every party so that our attendees can anonymously ask for assistance at any time.
We only book women and non-binary people and virtually everyone involved in the architecture of the party is a woman and/or queer person. We have a zero tolerance policy for any kind of harassment and keep a close eye on the vibe of the dancefloor. That said, it’s impossible for us to know everyone who attends the party, so never be afraid to ask for help from us (there’s usually at least one of us in or near the DJ booth at all times), door or venue staff - we’re here for you.
Can I submit a mix for your podcast?
Yes! We’d love to hear from you. If you would be interested in submitting a mix, head over to our contact page and send us your Soundcloud link, and we’ll let you know the particulars. We do have some small requirements - so let’s chat before you submit!
I am a part of a collective, promoter, or writer and want to submit something, can I do that?
Absolutely! Whether you want us to write about you or you want to pitch your story idea to us, we're interested in what you have to say. We are especially interested in featuring female-identified, trans, and queer collectives, crews, parties etc that are doing forward-thinking things. Let's chat.
My question isn't covered here.
Head on over to our contact page, submit your question, and we'll be pleased to help.
